Virgil appeared in 129 games for Atlanta in 1986, hitting 15 home runs with 48 RBI and earning his second consecutive All-Star selection. He spent three seasons with the Braves from 1986 through 1988, making this 1989 Topps issue a late card from his Atlanta tenure.

Virgil played 11 Major League seasons with the Phillies, Braves and Toronto Blue Jays. He is also part of a notable baseball family as the son of Ozzie Virgil Sr., who became the first Dominican-born player in Major League history in 1956.
