A beautifully decorated Chinese export porcelain vase of square (fanghu) form with a gently flared neck and gold-rimmed mouth. Each of the four sides features a large cartouche panel outlined in celadon green and gold, set against a rich iron-red ground decorated with gilt roundel florettes. Two panels depict elegant court ladies in garden settings — graceful figures in flowing robes amidst rockery, pine trees, pavilion railings, and lotus ponds — a classic narrative scene from Chinese literati tradition. The remaining two panels show lush nature compositions with peonies, pomegranates, butterflies, and garden rocks in soft polychrome enamels. The shoulder transitions to a pink sgraffito-style speckled ground (fenqing or "robin's egg" style) with medallion reserves of flowers and scholar's objects. The base bears a red oval seal reading Hand-Painted Decoration / 中国景德 / Manufactured in China. The style draws heavily from the Qianlong-period Famille Rose tradition, with the square form, court figure panels, and pink speckled shoulder being hallmarks of mid-20th century Chinese export reproduction ware, likely produced in Jingdezhen.
ESTIMATED DATE OF PRODUCTION: 1950s–1970s: Post-war Chinese export porcelain, produced in Jingdezhen for the Western market. The red oval "Hand-Painted / Made in China" stamp and style of decoration are characteristic of this period.
