A fine antique British sterling silver tabletop cigarette/tobacco box made in Chester, 1901, by George Nathan & Ridley Hayes. The hinged lid features a detailed high-relief repoussé scene depicting a celebratory procession of the Olympian gods, centered around a centaur beast, flanked by figures playing the harp, holding large wine casks, and other mythological motifs, with a distant temple visible in the background. The sides of the box are exquisitely decorated with traditional acanthus leaf patterns. Interior is gilt (gold-washed). In excellent condition. Approximately 12 x 8 x 7 cm, 286 grams.
