Published in 1977, SPI's War of the Ring was one of the first grand-strategy simulations of Tolkien's Middle Earth. It features high-level wargaming mechanics covering the entire Lord of the Rings narrative, from the Fellowship's journey to the massive battles of Gondor and Sauron. Collectors value this edition for its complex hex-map system and faithful adherence to the literary source material during the early era of licensed fantasy gaming.

• Includes multiple large-format hex maps covering Gondor, Mordor, and the greater Middle Earth region
• Original character cards for iconic figures including Frodo, Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, and the Nazgul
• Extensive set of cardboard unit counters representing the armies of the Free Peoples and the Shadow
• Original rulebooks including the Rules of Play and Standard Rules for Gondor & Sauron

Condition: The outer case is in poor condition and is falling apart, with significant tape repairs and structural wear throughout. There may be pieces missing from the original set; please review photos for an inventory of the included counters and cards. The paper maps show typical folding and light aging but remain bright and legible. Rulebooks are present with moderate handling wear. Includes the original plastic sorting tray.

Note: Any testing of electronics for power and/or functionality will be mentioned within the listing above ONLY if applicable. In some instances we may not have the necessary equipment to test certain electronics therefore these will be auctioned off AS-IS with no refunds.

*** Pick-Up Orders***

Pick-up orders must be paid for 24 hours before scheduling a pickup. Please contact us in order to schedule a pick-up. Pick-Up Hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The customer must pick up their order within (7) days of payment. If the order is not picked up within (7) days, the item will be re-listed and payment will be considered a charitable contribution.
