The Disney Herbie franchise follows the magical adventures of a sentient, white 1963 Volkswagen Beetle with racing talent and a big personality.

Down-on-his-luck race car driver Jim Douglas buys a strange little Volkswagen Beetle from a snobby showroom owner, Peter Thorndyke. Jim names the car Herbie after realising the Beetle has a mind of its own and incredible racing abilities. Together with his friend Tennessee and mechanic Carole, Jim wins major races. Thorndyke, furious and bitter, tries to cheat and sabotage Herbie in a grueling cross-country race, but Herbie triumphs in a dramatic, split-in-two finish.
