Royal Worcester porcelain egg coddler in the Farmhouse Egg recipe design, complete with its original screw-on chrome lid and loop ring.

The coddler has a rounded cup form on a short pedestal foot, in white porcelain with a soft blue sky wash. The front shows an English country scene: a half-timbered Tudor style farmhouse with red brick lower walls, leaded diamond pane windows, grey slate roofs, and tall red chimneys, with a white horse drawing a cart along the lane, a green tree at left, hedgerow and a wooden five bar gate at right, and white clouds behind. The reverse carries a cream recipe panel framed top and bottom by green laurel garland borders, reading "FARMHOUSE EGG" over a small rule, then "Ingredients," with Butter 1/4 teaspoon, One egg, Strip of bacon, Chopped mushroom, Chopped onion, and Gruyére 1/2 oz. The polished chrome lid is double banded and threads onto the porcelain rim, topped with a wire loop ring for lifting from the water.

Backstamp printed in black on the base: a crown over the Royal Worcester circle mark with interlaced W's and C 51 at center, reading "ROYAL WORCESTER FINE PORCELAIN" around the circle, with ® below. Beneath: "MADE IN ENGLAND" and "OVEN TO TABLE WARE." A faint stamped number reading 22-6 also appears on the base.

Approximately 4 3/8 inches tall to the top of the ring, approximately 3 5/8 inches tall to the top of the lid, and approximately 2 3/4 inches in diameter.

A charming piece for anyone who collects Royal Worcester coddlers or English kitchenware. Use it the traditional way for a gently cooked egg with butter, bacon, and cheese, or display it on an open shelf or in a cabinet with the cottage scene or the recipe panel facing out.

CONDITION
Pre-owned, excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs found. The painted scene and recipe panel are bright with no visible fading or loss. The interior glaze is clean and white. The unglazed foot ring on the base shows light grey marks and scuffing from shelf contact, with one small dark speck at the edge of the foot. The chrome lid shows light surface scratches and minor handling marks on the top and underside. The lid threads on securely.
