An elegant antique German rolled gold Double Albert pocket watch chain, dating to approximately 1910–1920 and attributed to the Pforzheim jewellery-making tradition.
This handsome gentleman's watch chain features a distinctive alternating bar-and-ring link construction, combining elongated decorative bar links with round cable-style connecting links. The combination creates an attractive articulated pattern typical of quality early 20th-century watch chains.
The chain is constructed in the classic Double Albert form, with two dog clips, one at each end, and a central drop fitted with a traditional T-bar for securing the chain through a waistcoat or vest buttonhole.
The two symmetrical arms terminate in traditional spring-loaded dog clips, allowing a pocket watch and accessory or fob to be attached on opposite sides. A short central drop carries the cylindrical T-bar used to secure the chain through a waistcoat buttonhole.
The T-bar fitting is fixed and does not rotate.
Excellent antique condition. The rolled gold finish is very well preserved with only light age-related wear. Both dog clips operate correctly. The links and fittings present beautifully for a piece more than a century old.
