Developed by Anarchy Enterprises with development contributions from Unique Entertainment and published by Legacy Interactive in 2001, Moon Tycoon is a science-fiction city-building and management simulation centered on establishing and expanding lunar colonies. Players manage construction, resources, research, tourism, manufacturing, mining, and the needs of their colonists while confronting hazards such as meteor showers, moonquakes, equipment problems, and other disasters. Its three campaigns contain 30 missions, while more than 60 buildings and a freely controllable 3-D camera give players substantial freedom in designing and managing their settlements.

Moon Tycoon was part of the early-2000s movement toward fully 3-D construction and management games and was promoted at release as the “first 3-D Sim game.” Its freely movable camera, dynamic day-and-night lighting, and three-dimensional colony environments distinguished it visually from many earlier city-building titles.
