This listing is for a vintage Hikare concert ukulele. Although Hikare is a little-known brand, the internal label states "Designed in Hawaii, Built in Japan," indicating it was likely produced in Japan during the 1960s to 1970s for export. The design closely follows the vintage Martin Style-1C model. It features a 370mm scale concert size, mahogany body with black binding, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and nut, lacquer finish, and friction tuning pegs. Unlike most vintage Japanese ukuleles which are soprano size, this concert size model is quite rare. The craftsmanship is excellent, possibly made by well-known manufacturers like Fujigen or Matsumoku.

Condition:

As a vintage instrument, it shows signs of wear such as lacquer rubbing and age-related use, but there are no cracks in the wood and the overall appearance is good. The neck has a slight forward bow but remains in good playing condition. All frets have been checked and produce sound properly. The ukulele delivers a rich, full concert tone. No case is included; the item will be carefully packed with bubble wrap and cardboard for shipping. Due to its age, it is sold as junk.
