Summary
An antique sterling silver double Albert watch chain dating to 1912, formed from curb links with lion passant marks throughout. Fitted with a T bar, watch hook and terminal jump ring, with all components appearing original to the chain.
Description
An antique double Albert chain in sterling silver, dating to the George V period and constructed from substantial curb links.
The chain is arranged in the traditional double Albert form, with two lengths of curb chain meeting at a central T bar fitting. The links measure approximately 7 mm across and carry individual lion passant marks, a feature commonly seen on British silver watch chains of this period.
One end terminates in a watch hook, while the opposite end has a circular jump ring. This original arrangement allowed the chain to be worn across a waistcoat with a pocket watch attached at one side and a second accessory, fob or key at the other.
The central T bar carries a British hallmark for 1912 together with an indistinct maker's mark which appears to read GLG. The bar measures approximately 3.6 cm across.
At 47 cm overall, the chain is also long enough to wear around the neck as a short necklace if preferred, with the original watch chain fittings retained as part of the design.
Condition
Good antique condition with surface wear and light marks consistent with age and use, wear to the lion marks to the links as expected. The watch hook and jump ring are secure. All components appear original to the chain.
