Antique Sanderson - London
5x4 Plate Camera folding Bellows, with Compur Carl Zeiss Tessar Lens
Very RARE!
In excellent condition for its age.
No fungus or mould in the lens.
The brass, bellows and wood are in excellent condition.
This camera is approximately 33cm long, 13 inches and is quite large.
It looks beautiful is very impressive to look at and have as a decorative piece.
I am not an expert with vintage and antique cameras, but the shutter in the lens seems to adjust very smoothly.
I have not tested the shutter or made any adjustments due to its antique and vintage, delicate nature.
Someone who has a good knowledge of these old cameras will be able to have it functional.
I’m also aware that lenses may be changed on this model and that the Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 1:45 f = 15cm COMPUR lens is of exceptional quality and is very much sought after.
Apparently sheet film stock can still be used to photograph with this camera and the film back is included.
It may have an exposed film inside, but totally cannot check in case it is exposed. Someone has written exposed on the back of the 4x5 slide plate.
It is difficult to know the value as I have not seen another one exactly the same on eBay however I will answer any questions as best as possible. It has a patent etching on the brass and it is a Sanderson - London made camera which is over 100 years old.
This is the highest quality camera available at the time and produces high quality resolution, large format images from negative film stock.
Item will come with the modern camera bag shown in the photos.
Please check photos for item condition as this is sold as seen as an antique vintage camera.
Would look amazing as a display piece in a lit, glass display case at home or a restaurant, photography shop or retail space.
Item will be packed carefully for postage.
