Large Japanese porcelain charger, 13½ inches in diameter, decorated with a plum blossom branch in cobalt, iron red, and white against gold stylized clouds. Gold rim. Marked on the underside with the Gold Imari backstamp and a hand-painted blue signature in two characters.

Gold Imari is Arita porcelain produced for export, mid-20th century. The gold work and blossom accents are applied by hand over transfer decoration, which is standard for this mark.

Condition notes:

• Small dark specks and one distinct pit along the outer rim edge, visible in photos 10 and 11. Firing flaws rather than damage, but noted so there are no surprises

• No chips, cracks, or crazing found

• Gold is bright with no visible rubbing

• Displays well on a stand; stand not included

Signature has not been translated. If you read Japanese ceramic marks and can identify it, I’d genuinely like to know.

Please review all photos, they show the actual piece. Message with any questions before purchase.
