Ken Potter was a third generation Californian. Born in Bakersfield he grew up in Northern California during the depression and began drawing at a very early age. While living in Sacramento he received art instruction through the WPA. He was a WWII veteran. He studied at the San Francisco Academy of Art and in France and Italy. He eventually settled in the North Beach neighborhood in San Francisco. He is known for these watercolors particularly of the Bay Area. ("California Watercolors 1850-1970").

This is an original watercolor on high quality paper. It is of the Golden Gate Bridge from Marin County with the Lime Point Lighthouse on the northern side of the Golden Gate strait. Frame measures 25 1/4 inches by 31 1/4 inches. Ken had a presence in Corte Madera in Marin County near this vantage point. Sight measures 22 inches by 16 1/4 inches. Dates to 1997.
