Necklace of large matte black barrel beads, each banded with applied red and white stripes that run around the body in wavy, hand-drawn lines. Small translucent amethyst-purple glass rondelles sit between them, and the strand is finished on blue braided cord.

The surface of the beads is matte and lightly pitted rather than polished, with the banding sitting slightly proud of the body. Stripe placement, width and colour depth vary noticeably from bead to bead, and some bands show wear where the piece has been handled — this variation is characteristic of the type.
