1899 "Solar" carbide gas bicycle and motorcycle lamp made by The Badger Brass Mfg. Co. of Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA. These acetylene-burning brass lanterns provided illumination for cyclists and early motorists before the widespread use of electric headlamps. Adorned with dark green jewels.
The lamp does have the mounting bracket attachment mechanism intact on the rear. The circular, serrated friction discs and the tightening thumbscrew assembly visible right below the embossed "Solar" cap are the core components of the original mounting hardware system. This is the built-in pivot joint. The only piece missing from this setup is the external extension arm/clamp that grips onto the bicycle frame.

Please look at all pictures closely. I will be happy to provide more pictures as needed. Unfortunately, I am not knowledgeable about this item and am trying to find homes for my dad’s collectibles with people with his same passion. Not tested or cleaned. Appears to be in very good condition in my opinion. Cheers!
