It comes as no surprise that the demand for Greg Fessler’s
guitars has been steadily rising. He has served as a Master Builder at the
Custom Shop for many years, and his style has become increasingly refined over
that time. Just look at the aging on this '60s Heavy Relic Stratocaster in
Daphne Blue—the attention to detail is simply outstanding! A signature
touch—beautifully executed on this model—is the area above the pickguard; here,
Fessler doesn't just remove layers of finish but works deep into the wood
itself. The result is a feel that truly mimics an original instrument subjected
to decades of rugged use on stages around the world.
We opted for a "worn & dirty" finish on the back of the neck
because it always feels so good to play. Otherwise, you’ll find the
tried-and-true specifications that have become hallmarks of our instruments: a
dark rosewood fretboard (for great looks), a 12" radius with 6105 Narrow
Tall frets for superb playability, and a headstock featuring staggered tuners
without a string tree. It’s incredible how much that subtle detail improves
tuning stability!
The sound is exactly what you’d expect from a genuine Fessler: rich,
dynamic, and featuring bell-like single notes. Everything is perfectly
captured by three hand-wound "Texas Special" single-coil pickups.
