A charming Art Deco sterling silver budgerigar brooch, probably dating from approximately the 1930s–1940s.
The stylised bird is beautifully decorated with translucent white, black, & a dab of blue guilloché enamel, with an engine-turned pattern visible beneath the enamelled surface. Its wing is densely set with sparkling marcasites, with two further marcasites decorating the little perch.
The reverse is stamped 925 FINE for sterling silver. It fastens with a pin and rollover safety clasp, which is secure and in good working order.
A particularly appealing and finely detailed period brooch, ideal for a collector of Art Deco jewellery, enamel work or bird-themed jewellery.
Measurements: approximately 4 cm long
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The enamel is intact, all marcasites are present, and the rollover clasp works correctly. There is some light tarnish and minor surface variation to the reverse consistent with age and previous ownership.
