Set of three highly collectable vintage River Tay Salmon lures.
1. Vintage ABU Kynoch Wobbler / Killer (c. 1973–1976)
Origin: Sweden
Key Marker: Crisply stamped with registration design number REG DES 888812 on the flank.
The Pattern: This is the rare LYS (Luminous) Pattern. It features a creamy, pale green glow-in-the-dark base body accented by hand-painted silver scale stripes down the sides.
Collector Value: Finding these with the fragile luminous paint fully intact and zero flaking is incredibly rare, especially with the original internal line-through hook assembly still rigged. No signs of use. Still glows!
2. Unmarked Scottish Spitfire Plug (c. 1980s)Origin: Scotland. Rigged - some evidence of slight lip wear
Key Marker: Matte-finish plastic hull showing a clear two-piece left/right seam construction and molded eye sockets. It carries no brand markings.
The Pattern: Traditional River Tay Pink Side pattern. This consists of a matte-white body, a red face plate, and pale pink lateral stripes down the sides.
Collector Value: These plastic hulls are highly prone to warping or cracking over the decades; a pristine, un-warped specimen with its original internal rigging is highly sought after by local Scottish angling historians.
3. Sandy Penny Tay Lure Shell (c. 1980s)
Origin: Handcrafted in Luncarty, Scotland by legendary maker Sandy Penny.
Key Marker: A highly distinctive scooped, concave indent on the diving face and an unmarked two-piece hull with a flawless center seam.
The Pattern: Classic Pink Pearl / Yellow-Belly color scheme, featuring hand-stenciled golden target-eyes and a red strike-dot on the tail.
Collector Value: This is an un-rigged bare shell. Anglers historically carried these un-rigged in their tackle boxes as quick-swap spare bodies to change colors on the river without tying a whole new rig.
Due to the historic nature of these lures, they gave been treated accordingly and will be handled and shipped as such.
