Collector Notes

Works documenting the Revolution of 1848 occupy an important place in nineteenth-century French political history. Vermorel discusses many of the leading political personalities whose ideas shaped the Second Republic and the years leading into the Second Empire. Original nineteenth-century French political works in contemporary bindings continue to appeal to collectors, historians, decorators, and institutional libraries.

Condition

Good antique condition for its age. Original contemporary half-leather binding with marbled boards remains intact and displays beautifully on the shelf with an attractive gilt-titled spine. General rubbing and edge wear consistent with age. The front hinge is beginning to separate, and there is moisture staining with associated waviness affecting portions of the text block, along with scattered foxing and age toning. An old label has been removed from the rear board (not the front), leaving residue. The text block appears complete.
