Presented here is an authentic vintage fraternal badge from
the Pittsburgh Chapter of Rose Croix, a degree within the
Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. This impressive piece was custom
manufactured by Bastian Bros. Co. of Rochester, New York,
one of America’s most respected makers of insignia, badges,
and regalia since the late 19th century.
The badge features the powerful and traditional
Pelican-in-her-Piety symbol, depicted with outstretched wings
above the I.N.R.I. banner—a central iconography associated
with the Rose Croix degrees. Above the pendant hangs an
ornate gold-tone top bar reading PITTSBURGH in raised lettering,
connected by its original loop hardware.
The reverse displays an early open-pin hinge and C-clasp,
typical of fraternal and Masonic regalia from the early 20th century.
The badge comes in its original chapter-issued presentation box,
lined with deep velvet and marked on the underside of the lid:
“Bastian Bros. Co. – Manufacturing Jewelers – Class Pins, Badges, Etc. – Rochester, N.Y.”
The exterior of the box retains its embossed lettering:
“Pittsburgh Chapter of Rose Croix.”
This complete presentation—badge plus original box—makes it especially
desirable for collectors of Masonic, Scottish Rite, and fraternal organization memorabilia.
