Description:An early New Zealand Queen Victoria Chalon Head imperforate used single, denominated One Shilling and printed in Green as corrected. The design shows the familiar full-face portrait within an oval frame, with NEW ZEALAND above and POSTAGE ONE SHILLING below. The stamp is used, showing an obliterator-style cancellation across the portrait and lower centre. Margins are tight, with the design close or touched at the upper and left sides, while the right and lower sides are somewhat clearer. The reverse shows no apparent gum and has visible toning and staining, typical of a used early colonial imperforate.
