This auction is for a set of Canadian coins minted in 1998 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Canadian Royal Mint.  The coins contain the dual date of 1908-1998 and are all .925 silver.  The large cent is copper coated but still silver.  Altogether, the coins have a total silver weight of .7926 Troy oz.  The Mint's master engravers have reproduced the original 1908 designs with an antique finish.  The set comes in a red clamshell case and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.  As you can see in the picture, a previous owner affixed a descriptive label so that he could know the contents of the case without opening it.  The coins have a limited mintage worldwide of 50,000 sets.  At a starting price of $90 this foreign coin set is a great value for a beginning collector or for a dealer to put into inventory.

After over 45 years of buying U.S. coin collections that often also contained a number of foreign coins, we are liquidating an accumulation of over 600,000 world coins.  These will be sold in groups by country.  Therefore, some lots will be small and some large.  Also, some of the large countries will require many lots.  The lots may consist of coins purchased last month or over 40 years ago.  If the coins are in holders, the prices on the holders or envelopes are old because they are from the previous owners.  When values are listed for various grades, they are from catalogs from previous years as the person looking them up did not know how to grade.  Therefore, she just wrote down prices for all the grades.  These lots were not searched for errors or varieties.
