Up for sale is a beautiful antique blacksmith-made Boker style reversible double hinge nutcracker. Dates to the early to mid 19th Century. Features an owl-shaped reversible double hinge that allows one to crack nuts of varying sizes. The grip pattern on the jaws was made with a blacksmith technique called hot punching and displacement. The delicate bands on the handles were made with special purpose swages. A fine example of Victorian blacksmithing.

No maker's marks. Might be silver-plated steel, but not sure. 5 1/4" long overall.
