Mission furniture became increasingly popular during the early 20th century with firms such as Gustav Stickley, L. & J.G. Stickley, Quaint Furniture, Roycroft, Com-Packt, Lakeside Crafts Shops, Lifetime, Limbert, and others helping to define and popularize the style. In contrast to the heavily ornamented Victorian furniture that preceded it, Mission furniture embraced a more restrained aesthetic, emphasizing clean straight lines, honest materials, and simplicity of form. Mission furniture has remained popular for more than a century, proving to be a truly timeless design. Part of its enduring appeal can be attributed to the large number of Craftsman style homes across the country, many of which prominently feature oak accents and architectural details. The market for Antique Craftsman furniture has remained strong and offers both enduring beauty and lasting value to its owners.

This server is a wonderful example of the period, crafted from beautiful quarter sawn white oak. The grain is quite bold and the piece was finished in the perfect golden brown color. The server has a single drawer with a split configuration, a lower shelf, and a gallery at the back. The presence of the drawer and the lower shelf make this a very practical piece to live with either in place of a traditional full size sideboard or in conjunction with one. The serving table is in excellent condition with our only notes being very minor surface wear and some newer finish nails added to the bottom drawer panel. The serving table measures 38” wide x 18” deep x 39” tall at the top of the gallery.
