1859 stampless cover from what appears to be Macon GA to Howell Cobb at Washington DC. 2 partially clear strikes of CDS (run off at top); some aging and edge tears at top; docketing at left; endorsed private on back; no content. Cobb (1815-1868) served in the House from GA 1843-1851 and 1855-1857, as speaker 1849-1851, as governor of GA 1851-1853, Secretary of the Treasury 1857-1860, and ultimately as the president of the Confederate Provisional Congress and as a Confederate general.
