- lacquer seal, letter seal, sceau, petschaft, siegel, stamp, zegel, lakstempel -

an antique silver wax seal with on the matrix an detailed engraved 

Unicorn couchant, 

lying down on a tiara / diadem with lining / cap of maintenance inside, 

on the tiara are band little Fleurons, 

the cap has the heraldic tincture of vertical lines for red / Gules.

We did not find a coat of arm like this, we did find some crests with a unicorn couchant on a crown as crest of a coat of arms,

with Dutch silver hall mark of pre 1953 for on foreign or old small items, 900 for it's purity, 

Dutch silver mark ZII - probably granted again after 1953 - and an indistinct makers mark,

not leading to it's age, maker, nor country of origin,

but probably 19th Century.

height: circa 6,7 cm / circa 2.6 inch

diameter matrix: circa 2 cm / circa 0.8 inch

weight: circa 31 gr.

condition: good and firm, soms slight signs of use and age.
