Vintage original CDV of Umberto I King of Italy who ruled 1878 until his assassination on July 29, 1900. The King was killed by American anarchist, Gaetano Bresci in Monza because of the government killing of citizens during the food riots in Milan a couple of years before in 1898. The King is buried with his father in the Pantheon in Rome. The backmark identifies the photographer as H. LE LIEURE, Piazza di Spagna in Roma. There is a slight crease near the top left corner of CDV. The photo was probably taken around the late 1880s.
