This is a classic "pocket edition" from the late Spanish Enlightenment/Restoration period. These compact sets were highly popular for personal travel or private study libraries.

The Barons Belper were descended from Jedediah Strutt, a pioneering industrialist. Their extensive country house library at Kingston Hall was famous for its fine bindings and curated foreign literature sections. Having their armorial plate on the marbled pastedowns proves that this Spanish set was imported into an elite English library shortly after publication and meticulously cared for.

A very handsome small set of books. scarce printing
