The 1809 edition of Stratagems in War (Strategemata) by the Macedonian rhetorician Polyaenus is a highly significant milestone in classical philology. It is the fourth ever printed edition of the Greek text, edited by the renowned Greek scholar Adamantios Korais and funded by the Zosimades brothers.

Adamantios Korais (1748–1833) was a towering intellectual figure and the intellectual grandfather of modern Greece. His goal was to ignite a cultural renaissance that would fuel the Greek War of Independence. Collectors of Greek history, the Enlightenment, and political revolution heavily compete for books edited by Korais.
