Offered here is a large signed Guardian Spirit / Angel sculpture by Oregon ceramic artist Barb Hertel.
This distinctive handcrafted sculpture is made using the Raku pottery process and features a tall, stylized guardian figure with a spherical head and gently curved architectural form. The surface is finished in a dramatic dark metallic copper-black glaze, accented by cream-colored geometric panels, a red heart, and a central spiral motif.
The cream-colored sections feature a fine crackled surface that is characteristic of the intentional crackle-glaze decoration. The combination of geometric shapes, symbolic imagery, metallic tones, and handmade irregularity gives the sculpture a strong contemporary folk-art and spiritual presence.
