This is an original Japanese hanging scroll (kakemono) featuring a hand-painted grape motif by the renowned artist Tenyu Dōnin (Shibukawa Kyōan). The scroll measures approximately 75.6 inches in height and 22.4 inches in width overall, with the main painting section measuring about 48.8 inches by 17.1 inches. The paper is in generally good condition, showing minor aging signs such as slight yellowing, tiny stains, and small repair marks. The mounting has been re-fitted, also in good condition. Tenyu Dōnin (1718-1810), born in Hizen, was a distinguished Japanese painter known for his depictions of hawks and grapes. He studied painting and medicine in Kyoto, participated in the loyalist movement, and later produced many artworks in Suwa, Shinshu, after the age of 50. This piece exemplifies his skill in capturing natural subjects with traditional brush techniques.
