Clifton Karhu (1927–2007) was an American woodblock print artist. After moving to Japan in 1955, he gained international acclaim for his depictions of Kyoto’s *machiya* (traditional townhouses), historic streetscapes, and traditional scenery, all rendered with a unique perspective and vivid colors.
