Charles William Dahlgreen was a Chicago-based painter and etcher known for his evocative landscapes and urban scenes. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Dahlgreens etchings are characterized by a masterful use of line and texture, often capturing the stillness and mood of rural America, especially winter scenes with snow-covered landscapes and trees.


He was a prominent figure in the Midwest art scene and a founding member of the Chicago Society of Etchers. His work is included in major collections, including the Smithsonian Institution.
