Kotzebue is the largest community in the Northwest Arctic Borough and serves as the region’s economic and transportation hub. It sits on a gravel spit extending into Kotzebue Sound, where the Noatak, Kobuk, and Selawik Rivers meet — a natural gathering and trading point for thousands of years.
