The Story: Salvaged by the school directly during the December 1987 demolition following the earthquake.

When the landmark four-story brick convent structure was irreparably compromised by the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake and subsequently demolished, school officials salvaged key historical elements—such as the chapel's hardwood floors, ornate wooden balustrades, and structural timbers—to preserve them for posterity.
