Milwaukee, WISCONSIN - Washington High School: Washington High School of Information Technology, located in the Sherman Park neighborhood, is one of the oldest schools in the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) system. - Early Years: The school was officially founded in 1911, and classes initially met in temporary frame buildings referred to as "barracks".
- "Old Main": In 1914, the city commissioned architects Van Ryn & De Gelleke to design a permanent facility for 1,500 students. Opened in 1916 and dedicated in 1917, the iconic Sherman Boulevard building—known to generations of alumni as "Old Main"—signaled the city's commitment to modern education, boasting science labs, a kitchen, and expanded vocational programming.
- Historic Art: The main entrance of the building features custom tiled panels manufactured in 1931 by the local Continental Faience & Tile Company, which are still celebrated today.
