Condition Note: Classsed as "Vintage" (in working order with age-related wear). Optically very good / excellent. Shutter speeds are AMAZING for this vintage, THEY APPEAR TO BE SPOT ON (as seen at the slowest, 1s)!
B & T modes work fine. If you've been using T mode, remember to close the leaf blades cocking the shutter again.
Leaf blades and aperture blades are excellent. All mechanics remain good quality.
Note the chip in the plastic sleeve ring near the Copal logo.
Finally, please note: This lens can easily be disassembled (by unscrewing from the shutter) into its two principal halves for a quick clean to remove dust whenever required.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Schneider Super Angulon 120mm f/8 is a massive ultra-wide-angle lens designed for large format photography. It features a huge 288mm image circle when stopped down, making it perfectly suited for 5x7 formats and ideal for wide architectural work on 4x5 plate/sheet sizes.
Plate and Film Size Coverage
- 4x5 inches (approx. 95 x 120 mm): Extreme coverage. Offers massive room for generous shifts, tilts, and rises without vignetting.
- 5x7 inches (approx. 120 x 170 mm): Ideal coverage. Acts as a wide-to-normal lens, giving a standard wide-angle view with less extreme movement capabilities.
- 8x10 inches (approx. 195 x 235 mm): Will physically illuminate the entire plate (true coverage circle is approx 315mm at narrowest apertures), though some users in the Large Format Photography community note a hint of corner fall-off or vignetting if pushed with aggressive camera movements.
