An exceptional Meissen porcelain urn vase featuring a rich cobalt-blue ground, elaborate gilded decoration, and dramatic entwined serpent-form handles. Ca.1924-1930
The front is centered with a finely hand-painted European harbor scene depicting figures, cargo, and sailing vessels, surrounded by ornate gold foliate scrollwork. The reverse is finished in a beautiful uninterrupted cobalt-blue ground.
The elegant baluster-form body rests on a raised, fluted pedestal base. Molded classical borders around the rim, shoulder, lower body, and foot are highlighted with gold. The white porcelain snake handles are individually detailed with gilt scales and modeled heads resting against the shoulder.
The underside bears the underglaze-blue Meissen crossed-swords mark, along with impressed and painted factory or decorator numbers.
