Description: A splendid English Elizebeth II solid sterling silver Winchester Cathedral wine commemorative goblet, made by the order of Dean & Chapter to commemorate the ninth centenary of Winchester Cathedral in 1979, a limited edition of 900 and this piece numbered 836 to the underneath of the base, with a plain tapering shaped body and the interior gilt lined above the gilt figural support, the nine figures modelled by Tim Minett who are Saint Swithun, King Alfred, Bishop Wakelin, William of Wykeham, Prior Kingsmill, Mary Tudor, William Walker the diver, a Benedictine monk and a mason who representing the characters who helped define the history of the cathedral and standing a circular spreading pedestal base. The goblet is of an excellent useable size, holds up to 250 ml of liquids perfectly well and weighs an impressive 390 grams of solid sterling silver. The main body is not engraved with any presentation inscriptions, initials, monograms or family crest marks. A gorgeous example of the quality workmanship, which is ready to be added to your collection. A very fine clean example.

Condition report: Excellent like new condition with no dents, dings, holes, splits or repairs. The top and bottom rims are perfectly in shape and stands well on display with no wobble. The nine gilt lined figures are in excellent unworn condition. The interior is beautifully gilt lined in excellent unworn condition with no nasty marks from use and holds perfectly well with no leaks or holes. The wine goblet has a plain body and is not engraved with any personal presentation inscriptions, initials, monograms or family crest marks. The underneath of the base is hallmarked with very crisp and readable English solid sterling silver hallmarks. Overall a fabulous very clean example, which is either ready to be used for its purpose or is ready to be added to your collection. A fine clean example.
