What Is the Hunter X2?

The Hunter X2 is the next generation of the popular X-Core, built on the same reliable dial-and-LCD programming platform but adding Wi-Fi capability, a backlit display, longer run times, and a padlock hasp. It suits residential and light commercial irrigation sites where you want straightforward on-controller programming today — with the option to upgrade to full cloud-based smart control tomorrow by simply plugging in the optional WAND module.

Without the WAND module the X2 operates as a fully functional dial-programmed outdoor controller. Add the WAND Wi-Fi module (sold separately) and it connects to Hydrawise software for remote management, weather-based Predictive Watering, system alerts, and scheduling from anywhere via smartphone or browser.

💡 X2 vs X-Core — what's the difference? The X2 improves on the X-Core in four key areas: longer run times (6 hours vs 4 hours per station), a backlit LCD for low-light programming, a padlock hasp for physical security, and optional Wi-Fi control via the WAND module and Hydrawise software. The X-Core uses Solar Sync for smart watering; the X2 uses Hydrawise Predictive Watering via WAND — no on-site sensor required as weather data is sourced from the internet. Both use the same familiar dial-based programming and the same 24VAC AC solenoids.

📌 WAND module not included: The X2 is sold without the WAND Wi-Fi module. Without WAND it works as a fully functional dial-programmed controller — no Wi-Fi, no app required. To enable Hydrawise remote access and smart watering, the WAND module is purchased separately and simply plugs into the front of the controller — no tools required. We stock the WAND module separately in our store.

📌 Important — AC solenoids required: The X2 operates standard 24VAC AC solenoids only. It is not compatible with DC latching solenoids. If your existing system runs from a mains-powered controller, your valves almost certainly have AC solenoids and will be directly compatible.

Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy:

If your item shows signs of operational failure, is defective, or is broken upon arrival (DOA), please contact us via eBay message within 3 days, providing a detailed description of the issue.
Claims for DOA items must be made within 3 days of receipt. Hunter Irrigation reserves the right to reject claims made after this period.

Returns:

All warranty claims require the buyer to return the item to Hunter Irrigation at the buyer’s cost.
Once we receive the defective item and it has been assessed we will contact you with the outcome, and if needed it will be repaired or replaced, and we will send out a replacement at our cost.
Replacement products come with the same warranty as the original items.

Exclusions:

Hunter Irrigation is not responsible for items that have been misused, mishandled, or incorrectly installed. Please follow the instructions and advice provided by manufacturers and suppliers.
