Step back in time with this fascinating vintage transit ticket from Venice, Italy, dating from the 1940s or 1950s. This "Biglietto di Corsa Semplice" (Single Ride Ticket) was issued by the "Azienda Comunale di Navigazione Interna Lagunare" for the "Filovie del Lido," indicating its use on the trolleybus or similar ground transport system on the Lido island. The ticket specifies its origin as "da S. M. Elisabetta" (from Santa Maria Elisabetta), a prominent location on Lido, and features the iconic winged lion of St. Mark, a symbol of Venice, in its municipal company logo. This piece offers a tangible connection to daily life and public transportation in post-war Venice.

The reverse side of the ticket provides instructions in Italian, noting that "I biglietti devono essere staccati dal bigliattario alla presenza del passeggero e resi ostensibili ad ogni richiesta del personale di controllo. – Conservare il biglietto fino a corsa ultimata." This translates to: "Tickets must be torn off by the ticket collector in the presence of the passenger and made visible upon any request by control personnel. – Keep the ticket until the ride is completed." The bottom edge shows a printer's mark, "BERTELLO – BORGO S. DALMAZZO." This historical artifact is a unique collectible for enthusiasts of transportation history, Venetian ephemera, or vintage travel memorabilia.
