Lovely vintage black jersey midi dress. Dating from the 1970s but with a distinctly art deco 40s-inspired design. The structured shoulders, batwing/dolman bodice, wide cummerbund-style waist, and the abundance of tiny tucks create the perfect triangular nipped-in post-war silhouette, but with some sultry 70s disco details like the plunging v-neck and the slinky jersey material that skims the body in all the right places. Beautiful, elegant lines give this dress a real off-duty ballerina vibe!

Please see photos for provided measurements. Compare these measurements to a similar garment that fits you well in order to determine if the item will work for you.

FIT NOTES: There is a bit of stretch to the material, so the waist can accommodate a small range of sizes. I have included two pictures for the waist measurement, the first at rest and the second pulled taught. I think it will work best for waist sizes from 24"-26". My mannequin has a 26" waist and I think it fits her well. Additionally, the bust measurement looks small but due to the batwing construction of the bodice, I think a bust range of 33"-35" could fit comfortably (mannequin has a 34" bust).

FLAWS NOTED: The dress is in great condition, though the fabric has thinned out a little at the top shoulder era, which can be seen in the close-up photo of the care tag. This can only be seen in very bright direct light, so it is not really noticeable during normal wear. There might be other spots of fabric thinning but there are no holes.

Please purchase carefully and with intention; I am not a professional seller/flipper, everything I have listed is part of my personal vintage collection. I am not Amazon, I cannot afford to have items shuttled back and forth in an endless loop of returns. I loved these clothes and I want the individual who buys them to love them too!

I DO NOT TAKE RETURNS for fit or condition, all items are sold AS-IS. If you are not comfortable with this please do not purchase from me. Please recognize that no vintage item will be perfect, small flaws are likely to be present---by purchasing vintage the buyer accepts this fact. These clothes will have had a long life before coming to you. I will however note any major flaws (holes, stains, etc.) on the listing if necessary.

I take care to describe each item thoroughly with words and pictures, but I'm also happy to answer any questions or provide more photographs/measurements in order to help you decide if the item is right for you. Please ask a question if you have one! An informed buyer is happy one in my experience.

All items are hand-washed in hypoallergenic unscented detergent, air-dried, and steam sanitized before shipping. No scented products of any kind (including moth balls, dryer sheets, room deodorizers, etc.) are used in my home. However, vintage items very rarely smell completely neutral, the clothes have been in storage and I live in an old house, any of which might impart its own lightly perceptible scent even after laundering---if you are overly sensitive to scents I would advise bypassing vintage in general and my listings in particular might not be right for you.

This item comes from my personal vintage collection, which I have amassed over the course of the last 12 years or so. I will be listing many more items from this collection, as I am attempting to downsize. They are all roughly the same size, so if this item corresponds with your personal size and/or style you might be interested in other things that I have posted :)
