Offered here is a 1692 French Burgundy jeton from the reign of Louis XIV, issued for the States of Burgundy.
The obverse features a radiant sun rising over grain, with the Latin legend CVRVATA RESVRGET, roughly meaning “the bent shall rise again.” The date 1692 appears below the design.
The reverse features the crowned arms of Burgundy with the Latin legend COMITIA BVRGVNDIAE, referring to the Estates or Assembly of Burgundy.
This is a genuine 1600s French jeton that is now over 300 years old. The piece appears to be copper, bronze, or a similar base-metal composition and shows noticeable circulation wear, dark surfaces, age-related surface marks, and small contact marks. The main type remains identifiable, including the date, sun-over-grain design, and Burgundy arms.
Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
