Early cylinder music box made by Nicole Freres and with gamme number 950 and serial number 25950 (dates circa 1843, early).
Originally this model was key wound. A crank has now been added though the purist could remove that as desired.
The music box plays pretty well and this large model performs 8 tunes with the catalogue seen under the lid.
DIMENSIONS:
Weighs 8kg before wrapping. The case measures 20.25" (51.5cm) wide, stands 5" (13cm) high and is 6.75" (17cm) deep. The comb is just under 13" long and has roughly 93 teeth or notes - all present. The cylinder is also 13" long and has very good pinning.
