Antique Aladdin’s
Lamp Roberts & Belk Silver Roll-Top Breakfast Server Sheffield UK
As imaged.
This is a high-quality
Victorian/Edwardian piece by a respected Sheffield maker. While "silver on
copper" can sometimes refer to intentional plating, in this case, the warm
glow (visible in photos 1 and 2) is almost certainly "bleeding"—the
copper base showing through due to years of cleaning.
- The
mechanism (the roll-top) is smooth and the "lion's paw" feet are
sturdy. Roberts & Belk "Aladdin’s Lamp" mark.

Revolving Roll-Top Lid, Ornate Feet, Engraved Floral Design
Stunning
antique "revolving" breakfast server produced by the renowned
Sheffield silversmiths Roberts & Belk. This piece features the
company’s famous "Aladdin’s Lamp" hallmark, dating it to the late
19th or early 20th century.
- Function:
The roll-top lid operates smoothly, rotating underneath the base to reveal
the interior.
- Artistry:
The dome is beautifully engraved with a floral and fern wreath. It stands
on four heavy, ornate scroll/paw feet.
- Patina:
This piece shows a beautiful "copper bleed" where the silver
plating has softened over time to reveal the warm copper/nickel base
underneath. This gives it a wonderful authentic antique character (please
see photos).
This is a functional and highly
decorative piece of English history!
