The latest work from the M Claudel label, a must-have for enthusiasts, is a set of audio and video from 1975 in and out of the studio, including ``ONE HAND CLAPPING,'' which records studio rehearsals for the world tour that took place over two years from 1975 to 1976. Joe English had not yet joined the band, and it feels like a culmination of the era of Jeff Britton as drummer. This set allows you to enjoy the Wings just before they took flight into the world.
DISC ONE ["ONE HAND CLAPPING" SESSIONS] CD disc 1 contains audio recorded separately from the ``ONE HAND CLAPPING'' video. Of course, it is a perfect stereo soundboard and a valuable studio live, but the value is that it is not simply a sound source accompanying the video, but a separate recording. In fact, there are no different takes from the video, and there is no noise that is typical of video, making it a very excellent soundboard sound source. It is characterized by the fact that the same song is recorded multiple times as if it were a rehearsal, and even the studio scene between songs is recorded. What is surprising is that "Wild Life", "1985", and "BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY", which were never actually performed live, are featured in the rehearsal. In particular, "1985" will not be performed live until 2011, but here it is a live take of the original Wings performance.
DISC TWO ["ONE HAND CLAPPING" OUTTAKES] [THE BACKYARD TAPE] The first half of disc 2 contains outtakes from the rehearsal documentary "ONE HAND CLAPPING". The second half of the album contains a solo recording of Paul, commonly known as "BACKYARD TAPE," recorded in the studio's garden. Although it remains unreleased to this day, there is no doubt that it was recorded with the intention of some kind of release, as the same songs were re-recorded many times and Paul carefully introduces the songs. You can listen to a Buddy Holly cover and a song that seems to be the prototype of "GREAT DAY," which would later be included in "FLAMING PIE." This disc also contains "Junior's Farm," recorded during an appearance on TOP OF THE POPS, and a different mix of "Junior's Farm" and "Sally G."
DISC THREE [NASHVILLE SESSIONS] Disc 3 is entirely devoted to the Nashville sessions. The first half contains recordings at Soundship Studios in Nashville. The selection of songs in this Nashville session is very modest, including B-sides of singles, songs from Linda and Denny's solo albums, and songs that ended up remaining unreleased, but the unique atmosphere of Nashville, deep in America, is reflected in the recording, giving it a different feel from the British recordings. The second half contains a monitor mix of this Nashville session, which has rarely been recorded until now. The sound image is far from the monitor mix, but considering that there are no studio recordings left and there are many takes that can only be heard in this monitor mix, it can be said to be a valuable recording.
DVD DISC [ONE HAND CLAPPING and OTHERS] Next is the video. The DVD first contains the complete version of "ONE HAND CLAPPING". It is clear that the image quality of this work is the best compared to the already released versions, and the image quality of this work is better than the digest included in the deluxe edition of "BAND ON THE RUN". I'm sure you've seen this footage many times before, but I hope you'll enjoy it with the quality of this album, which is truly the definitive edition.
In addition, it includes a promo clip for "JUNIOR'S FARM" created from this session, the TV program "THIS IS YOUR LIFE" recorded at the same time (a studio interview that includes a rough rehearsal of "JUNIOR'S FARM"), and a studio live performance of "JUNIOR'S FARM" from the TV program "TOP OF THE POPS" (actually, miming to a live performance that had been recorded in advance).
