Description/Specifications:
Brand-Hall China Company
Item-Drip/Grease Bowl
Pattern-Autumn Leaf
Material-Ceramic/Porcelain
Condition-Vintage Good, No Chips, 24K Gold Trim Intact
This Hall China Company "Autumn Leaf" drip bowl was produced for the Jewel Tea Company starting in 1936 as part of a range set.
The covered drip bowl or grease jar is accented with 24K gold trim on the rims of the bowl and lid. Edging is in good condition, considering the trims were the first to wear away if put in a dishwasher. The "Autumn Leaf" pattern was influenced by Mary Dunbar, who was a designer for Jewel Tea. This particular piece has the approval seal of Mary Dunbar stamped on the bottom of the drip bowl. Jewel Tea would sell this pattern door-to-door and is a highly sought after design. In the eighteenth to mid-twentieth century it was efficient and time-saving for cooks to save the bacon or sausage drippings for cooking, dipping and creating gravies. This piece is perfect for repurposing such as: sugar bowl, cotton ball container, potpourri bowl.
