Offered here is an antique cast iron “National Safe” still bank, a classic form highly sought by still bank and cast iron toy collectors. The front door features raised lettering reading “NATIONAL SAFE” with a combination dial on the left and a raised five-pointed star on the right — a distinctive and desirable design.
The coin slot is cast into the top. The door retains its original small knob handle on the right side and opens on a cast hinge. The sides and back display embossed decorative motifs, now heavily worn and surface corroded consistent with genuine age.
The bank stands on four cast corner feet.
A handwritten combination note is taped to the bottom reading “Turn L Stop AT 7 - 2nd Time R To 4,” suggesting the combination lock mechanism is intact and functional. The overall surface shows heavy oxidation and age patina throughout — honest, untouched surface that serious cast iron collectors generally prefer over cleaned examples.
Displays strongly. Exact date of manufacture not determined — style and construction are consistent with late 19th to early 20th century American cast iron still bank production. Sold as shown.
