Up for bid is an authentic bronze AE4 nummus of Emperor Arcadius, who ruled the Eastern Roman Empire from AD 383–408. Arcadius was the eldest son of Theodosius I and presided over the empire during the definitive split between East and West.
Obverse: Features the pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Arcadius facing right. Legend: DN ARCADIVS PF AVG.
Reverse: Likely the SALVS REIPVBLICAE type (Health of the Republic), typically showing Victory heading left, carrying a trophy over her shoulder and dragging a captive.
Certification: Professionally authenticated and slabbed by NGC Ancients.
Note: This coin features a very dark, nearly black "ebony" patina. While the wear is significant, the silhouette of the imperial bust remains clearly visible.
