The 1982 George Washington silver half dollar is a commemorative coin issued by the United States Mint to celebrate the 250th anniversary of George Washington's birth. It contains 90% silver and was the first modern commemorative coin produced since 1954, with a total mintage of approximately 7 million coins. This is the first 90% silver coin struck by the US Mint since 1964.
